June 15th and the goodies of the 2nd Leavenworth Farmers Market await! The wet and cool spring has provided lots of water in our rivers, but slowed down our produce and fruit growth. Vendors are making the best of the late season and will have lots of things to fill your bags, baskets and bellies.
Hope Mountain Farms will be there with the best local, fresh salad makings! Baby spinach, salad mix - a blend of the best of our 22 varieties of lettuce, radishes, butter lettuce and Apple Balsamic salad dressing. For your own herb garden, Hope Mtn. has mint and chive starts ready to plant. They also have breakfast with their blue corn Pancake mix and red and yellow raspberry jam or raw and flavored honey. Don't forget about dessert: Decadent raspberry bars, brownies and chocolate chip cookies! Bonus product: pure beeswax lip balm for healing those dry lips!
Oh Yeah Farms will be there with those hard to resist Freedom Fries (5% of fry profit is being donated to the ACLU!), garlic scapes, fresh greens, "worlds best arugula," vibrant, 'good-for-your belly' kale and some fresh cookies to get a taste of what your cooking and baking can be like with their amazing, local grains!
Other farm fresh goodies: Gibbs Organic Farm will be there with rhubarb, garlic scapes, peas, spinach and fresh kraut for the pantry. Laurel's Floral will be there with beautiful succulent and flower arrangements. New Leaf Farm is a new vendor with some cool, classy and crisp microgreens to top on those early season salads and everything! Come and check it all out!
Local Makers Galore! This week's Posy Handpicked Goods featured artist is Brenda McGowan Jewlery Studio B! This husband and wife team creates a line of hand crafted, gemstone and recycled silver and gold jewelry! Music and family fun at the market starts at 4:30 with a drum circle performance by the Crazy Coconuts from the Coyote House at the Tierra Learning Center and Rusty Gibbs and Recycled Rhythms! A fun, family experience and worth seeing! If you had fun with Fruit Tones Studio last week, don't miss Mrs. Cassandra and her family fun music time at 5:30pm after the drumming. Emily Keenan will continue the music fun at 6pm.
Last but certainly not least! Come and get your dinner! El Chavo and Good Mood Food will be there again this week with delectable, incredible hot foods to fill your belly!
Market starts at 3:45pm at Lions Club Park on Thursday, June 15th and we hope to see you and the whole family there!
